JERUSALEM, May 7 (UPI) -- A mortar shell exploded inside Israel near the border fence in the southern Golan Heights Tuesday, the Israeli army said.

There were no reports of injuries or damage. It is the third mortar shell fired from Syria that landed in Israel in less than 24 hours.

On Monday evening two mortar shells exploded near houses in Moshav Ramat Magshimim in the southern Golan Heights, no one was injured.

The Israeli army didn't respond to either incident, assuming the incidents were unintentional and were fired by Syrian army units or rebel groups in Syria, Israel's Channel One reported.

The U.N. Disengagement Observer Force near the border was notified of the incidents.

The incidents occurred just days after the Israeli air force allegedly bombed targets, including suspected stockpiles of advanced Iranian-made rockets to be transported to Hezbollah in Lebanon, in Damascus.

Also Monday, the army reopened the airspace in northern Israel to civilian air traffic that was closed Sunday due to tensions following the airstrike in Damascus.
