MOGADISHU, Somalia, May 4 (UPI) -- Authorities in Somalia said roads in the capital Mogadishu have been reopened after being closed for four days due to security concerns.

Government troops were patrolling roads in the capital, shutting down businesses and freezing the city in place for days. People were forced to walk as their only means for transportation, Shabelle News said Saturday.

Public transportation was also resumed Saturday, authorities said.
