MOSCOW, April 27 (UPI) -- Three suspected militants in Russia's republic of Dagestan have been killed in an attack on police officers, the republic's Interior Ministry said Saturday.
Police had stopped their vehicle in an overnight search operation and the men were killed when they opened fire on the officers, RIA Novosti reported.

The attackers were from the village of Kushtil, the ministry said. Russia's National Antiterrorism Committee identified one of the suspects as the town's gang leader.
Weapons and ammunition were seized at the scene.
No police officers were injured.
