Oguzhan Bingol, governor of the Midyat district, said construction of the camp is expected to be completed in about six weeks, Today's Zaman reported.
The Emergency Management Directorate said in late February that Turkey already had 14 refugee camps, with about 400,000 Syrians in the country.
The Syrians fled their country because of its long-running conflict between government and rebel forces.
Officials at the Turkish Interior Ministry said the Syrian refugees will not be fined if they overstay their visa and residence permits, Today's Zaman reported.
Turkish officials have called for the creation of a humanitarian corridor in Syria to allow delivery of aid to the country.
