Saab to repay Denmark

COPENHAGEN, Denmark, April 26 (UPI) -- Sweden's Saab has been ordered to pay about $43 million to Denmark as a result of a terminated command-and-control system contract.

The amount ordered by Denmark's Supreme Court includes repayment of damages awarded by the Maritime and Commercial Court in 2010, payments received under system contract, interest and court costs.

Payment will be made by Saab to Denmark's Defense Acquisition and Logistics Organization and Saab will be unable to appeal the ward.

The command-and-control system, DACCIS, had been ordered for the Danish army to create common situational awareness and to monitor and lead forces.

The Danish agency said the DACCIS didn't meet agreed-upon requirements. It canceled the contract and requested a refund of funds paid to Saab.

Denmark's Maritime and Commercial Court in 2010 issued a verdict in the dispute in Saab's favor. DALO appealed to the Supreme Court, which has overturned it.
