ROME, April 23 (UPI) -- Pope Emeritus Benedict XVI's brother Georg said the former pope is "relieved" to no longer hold the fate of the Roman Catholic Church in his hands.

Georg Ratzinger said his brother, the former Joseph Ratzinger, is frail with old age -- he turned 86 on April 16 -- but insisted he suffers from no specific ailments, the Daily Telegraph of Britain said Tuesday.

Ratzinger says Benedict, "still suffers the problems of the Church, but is really relieved to no longer have the weight of the Church on his shoulders."

Ratzinger said Benedict has taken well to retirement, now able to pray, read and play the piano at Castel Gandolfo, a secluded palazzo amid private gardens and spectacular Roman ruins.

He will return to the Vatican when his quarters are finished being remodeled.
