BEIJING, April 22 (UPI) -- China said Monday its troops haven't trespassed into Indian territory along the China-India border, contrary to claims by Indian officials.
Indian officials were quoted last week saying Chinese troops set up a "tented post" in the Daulat Beg Oldi sector of Ladakh in India, the newspaper The Hindu reported.
"China's frontier troops have been abiding by the agreement between (the) two countries and abiding by the Line of Actual Control" separating China and India, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Hua Chunying said Monday.
Reports said a platoon-strength contingent of Chinese troops went 6 miles inside Indian territory on the night of April 15, the Hindustan Times said, and established a position there, a point 17,000 feet above sea level.
Hua added the border situation was peaceful, as were relations between the two countries.
"We believe current India-China relations are in fine shape," she said.
The developments come at a time when prime ministers of both countries are expected to make reciprocal visits, the Hindustan Times said.
