Iran military plane crashes, killing 2

ABDANAN, Iran, April 21 (UPI) -- Two pilots were killed Sunday morning when an Iranian U.S.-made military airplane crashed, officials said.

The fighter jet F-5 crashed into Mount Filman near the town of Abdanan, which is located 280 miles southwest of Tehran, RIA Novosti reported.

Military forces are investigating the causes of the crash, Iran's Mehr News Agency said.

The jet fighter belonged to the Dezful airbase in the Khuzestan province.

Iran's Air Force uses U.S.-made combat aircraft purchased before the 1979 Islamic revolution, RIA Novosti reported.
