OBOUR CITY, Egypt, April 21 (UPI) -- A pedestrian bridge collapsed in Obour City, Egypt, killing four people and injuring 12 others, a military spokesman said.

A section of the bridge collapsed onto a roadway Saturday, Ahram Online reported.

A microbus was underneath the bridge when it fell and four of its passengers were killed, military spokesman Ahmed Mohamed Ali said in a statement.

Twelve others were injured in the incident and were treated at the military-run International Medical Centre, Ali said.

The bridge was under construction by a civilian company contracted by the army, Ali said, adding that the families of the dead will be given $14,485 in compensation from the army and those injured will receive $3,621.
