NAIROBI, Kenya, April 19 (UPI) -- Gunmen attacked a restaurant in eastern Kenya and fired indiscriminately at patrons, killing at least 10 people and wounding eight, police said.

Witnesses told police three men armed with AK-47 rifles stormed the Kwa Chege eatery in Garissa while diners were watching the 7 p.m. news, Capital FM News reported Friday.

Police were looking for the attackers.

Officials blamed the attack on al-Qaida militants, although the group had not claimed responsibility.

Up to 120 people have been killed in Garissa since November 2011 when the Kenyan government sent troops to pursue Islamic militants in Somalia.
