ABU DHABI, United Arab Emirates, April 18 (UPI) -- Seven people suspected of being members of a terrorist cell affiliated with al-Qaida have been arrested, United Arab Emirates security officials said.

Security officials said the cell was planning to carry out terrorist acts within the UAE, the official WAM news agency reported Thursday.

Emirates officials said the cell also was planning to recruit more members and promote al-Qaida, as well as provide the terror organization money and logistical support.

WAM said the State Security Prosecution will begin its investigation of the accused.
