MOSCOW, April 15 (UPI) -- Russian President Vladimir Putin confirmed his readiness to meet with U.S. President Barack Obama during June's Group of Eight summit in Northern Ireland.

Putin also repeated an invitation to Obama to visit Russia, the Russian news agency ITAR-Tass reported Monday.

Russian presidential aide Yuri Ushakov told journalists Monday "the parties have agreed Putin and Obama will meet in Northern Ireland at the G8 summit, and will then hold full-scale talks within the Group of 20 Summit in St. Petersburg (Russia)," adding Putin "had a long time ago extended an invitation to Obama to pay an official visit to Russia."
