April 14, 2013 at 3:42 PM

MONGUNO, Nigeria, April 14 (UPI) -- Members of the militant Islamist sect Boko Haram in Nigeria are suspected of killing several students in the province of Borno, an education minister said.

The ages and number of children killed were not reported. The victims' hands were bound and their throats were slit, witnesses told the Nigerian Sunday Tribune.

The school is located in the village of Monguno, in the northwest portion of the country.

The incident comes on the heels of another school plot in which six people, including the principal, were killed in a Boko Haram attack.
