LONDON, April 10 (UPI) -- An English court was told a woman was aware her estranged husband and his cohorts were planning a terrorist attack but didn't tell police.
Salma Kabal, 23, on trial on charges she had information and failed to inform authorities, allegedly knew her husband Ashik Ali and others were planning suicide bombings in the Birmingham, England, area, the Birmingham Mail reported Wednesday.
Ali was one of three ringleaders of a conspiracy, each convicted in February, of planning a campaign involving up to eight suicide bombers.
Kabal was recorded in conversations with Ali as police followed them for a period of several months, ending in Ali's arrest in September 2011, and they exchanged text messages, the Woolrich Crown Court in London heard.
One text message Kabal sent Ali was "Four Lions at nine, Channel 4," a reference to the television presentation of a film about radical but incompetent Muslim suicide bombers, The Daily telegraph reported.
"Why had Salma Kabal drawn Ashik Ali's attention to that, a film about terrorism?" asked prosecutor Stuart Baker. "She knew she had wanted to do something terrorist-related for some time."
