Local authorities in eastern Nangarhar province said the helicopter crashed in Pechigram district, Khaama Press reported.

The official said Afghan police forces were dispatched to the scene.

Taliban militants claimed responsibility for the crash, saying the chopper was shot down by Taliban fighters, Khaama Press said.
