VLADIVOSTOK, Russia, April 9 (UPI) -- Russian border guards say they have seized more than 10 pounds of bear paws during a search of a cargo train headed to China.

Federal Security Service (FSB) officials said packages containing the paws were found under a platform carrying lumber, RIA Novosti reported Tuesday.

The paws and skin of bears, as well tiger bones and some endangered plants, are popular ingredients in folk remedies and recipes in China.

The FSB did not indicate if anyone would be prosecuted in the seizure, which the agency said was the first of natural contraband in the region this year.
