ABBASSEYA, Egypt, April 8 (UPI) -- Violence outside of a Coptic cathedral killed two and injured 90 others before police ended the fighting Monday, Egypt's Health Ministry said.

Police intervened to end the violence between Coptic Christians and others that began during funerals Sunday at the cathedral in Abbasseya for four Copts killed Friday, al-Masry al-Youm reported.

A ministry official said 11 policemen were among the 90 injured in the attack by unknown assailants, Ahram Online reported.

Security officials Monday called on Coptic Christians positioned on the cathedral's roof to get down. Witnesses said traffic had been restored and the area was being cleared of debris.

On Saturday, at least four Christians and one Muslim were killed in sectarian clashes after a group of Christian teenagers allegedly painted offensive drawings on the gates of a Muslim facility in Abbasseya, the state-run news agency MENA said.
