The 29-foot boat capsized early Saturday in a storm north of Puerto Rico, bringing an early end to their voyage from Senegal to the United States.
The crew included two Seattle men and two Canadians, including Olympic gold medalist Adam Kreek.
Greg Spooner, the controller for the adventure, told theTimes Colonist in Victoria, British Columbia, the rowers were picked up by a commercial vessel scheduled to arrive in Miami within weeks.
Spooner said the boat, which had been at sea for 73 days, was designed to right itself after capsizing but for some reason remained upside down while the rowers wound up in the water. A U.S. Coast Guard plane spotted the overturned boat and guided rescuers.
