Protesters demonstrate across Egypt

CAIRO, April 6 (UPI) -- A crowd estimated in the thousands gathered in central Cairo Saturday to protest the government of President Mohamed Morsi and the Muslim Brotherhood.

Ahram Online reported the marchers converged on Prosecutor General Talaat Abdullah's office to demand the resignation of Abdullah and members of Morsi's Cabinet.

The crowd demanded more jobs and an end to what was seen as a too-cozy relationship between the government and the powerful military.

No significant violence was reported but Ahram Online said Abdullah left his headquarters with his security detail before the marchers arrived.

Saturday was the anniversary of pivotal strikes in 2008 that helped topple the government of former President Hosni Mubarak.
