Julie Ann Watson lay dead under rubbish for 19 months, court hears

BELFAST, Northern Ireland, April 5 (UPI) -- A Belfast, Northern Ireland, woman lay dead in a pile of rubbish for 19 months without anyone's notice, a court heard Friday.

The skeletal remains of Julie Ann Watson, 37, a mother of three, were found under 6 feet of garbage in April 2011 in the backyard of a derelict property in Belfast, the Belfast Telegraph reported Friday.

An inquest this week noted she was identified from DNA samples, and her body was so badly decomposed a cause of death could not be determined.

Watson had a life of alcoholism and mental health issues, the court heard, and her children were cared for by social service agencies.

A police officer testified she was last seen alive in August 2009 and her bank activity stopped a month later.
