RIO DE JANEIRO, April 2 (UPI) -- Two Brazilians held for the kidnapping, robbery and rape of a foreign tourist have been accused of an earlier rape, police in Rio de Janeiro said.

A Brazilian woman who recognized suspects Jonathan Foudakis de Souza, 20 and Wallace Aparecido Silva, 22, came forward and accused the pair of raping her a week before the tourist was assaulted, The Rio Times reported Tuesday.

The two men, along with a third man sought by police, are accused of holding a foreign couple hostage for six hours in a passenger van driven by de Souza. Other passengers in the van were forced off before the abduction began.

The female tourist was raped and robbed while the male victim was handcuffed and beaten with an iron bar, police said.

The couple contacted police shortly after they were freed early Sunday morning.

Police have not identified the third suspect they are seeking.

The names and nationality of the tourists have not been released.
