MANCHESTER, England, April 1 (UPI) -- An airport terminal at Manchester Airport in Britain was evacuated and closed for hours Monday after a suspicious package was found, airport officials said.

An airport spokesman said flight traffic in and out of the airport was unimpeded during the terminal's closure, the BBC reported.

The terminal was reopened after about four hours, police said.

The BBC did not report on information about the suspicious package.

Greater Manchester Police said the explosive ordinance disposal team was sent to the airport "as a precaution."

One evacuated passenger, Alexina Evans from Walsall, told the BBC she and others were told to wait outside then advised to go to another terminal.
