Nigeria: JTF kills 14 suspected terrorists

March 31, 2013 at 3:03 PM

UNGUWA UKU, Nigeria, March 31 (UPI) -- Nigerian military forces said they killed 14 suspected terrorists, including a woman and a child, in a raid on a compound Sunday.

Witnesses said Nigeria's Joint Task Force said vehicles found inside the compound were primed for an attack during Easter celebrations. Troops entered the compound at 4 a.m., and noises of gunshots and explosions lasted for over four hours, Channels Television reported.

Security officials said a terrorist top commander was arrested during the operation.

The corpses were taken to a morgue and JTF demolished the house.

One soldier was kille, while another was critically injured, Channels Television reported. No civilian injuries were reported.
