JOS, Nigeria, March 27 (UPI) -- Unknown gunmen attacked two villages in central Nigeria killing at least 15 people, authorities in Plateau State said Wednesday.

A government spokesman told Leadership Newspapers that a special military task force was deployed to restore order in the stricken areas.

Reports indicate that most of the homes in the villages were destroyed by fire.

The villages have been identified as Da Jak and Attakar in the Riyom local government area of Plateau State.
