Deadly bull dies peacefully in Spain

VALENCIA, Spain, March 26 (UPI) -- Spain's deadliest bull, which gored 30 people and killed three, has died in Sueca, the bull's breeder said.

Breeder Gregorio de Jesus said the bull, named Raton (Mouse), died peacefully Sunday, The Local in Spain reported.

"He was 13 and half years old, or 90 in bull years," de Jesus said, noting that Raton enjoyed good health despite "all the fights he'd had with other bulls."

De Jesus said Raton was so agile that he could jump over the barrier around the edge of Spain's bullrings in his younger years.

But Raton's blood lust made him an animal celebrity both feared and revered in Spain, The Local said. Experts theorized an incident of children taunting him then locking him in the dark for several hours when he was 10 days old turned him.

His gorings became popular YouTube videos and he was in demand among breeders, with some offering about $12,900 per event, 10 times the usual amount, de Jesus said.

Just nine days before his death, Raton brought out crowds when he participated in his final running of the bulls in Valencia, The Local said.

De Jesus said he and his family were thinking of having Raton stuffed and put on display at the ranch where he was reared.

"We never saw him as dangerous," he said. "He was the most noble of animals at home."
