16 Iraqi troops, police killed

BABEL, Iraq, March 24 (UPI) -- Sixteen members of the Iraqi Army and police force were killed in northern Babel Sunday by unidentified gunmen, a security source told IraqiNews.com.

"Undefined gunmen attacked a joint checkpoint for the IA and IPs by silenced weapons, resulting in killing 16 of them," the source told the news website.

The attackers managed to escape, the source said.
