Pakistan elections set for May

ISLAMABAD, March 20 (UPI) -- Pakistani President Asif Ali Zardari signed paperwork securing a date for the country to elect a new government in May, officials said.

Pakistanis will head to the polling stations May 11, Geo News reported Wednesday.

Presidential spokesman Farhatullah Babar said Prime Minister Raja Pervaiz Ashraf had requested Zardari to announce a suitable date for the elections to the National Assembly.

The Election Commission of Pakistan will announce the election schedule in two days, Geo News reported.
