MILAN, Italy, March 18 (UPI) -- A Milan court Monday ordered a further delay in the trial of former Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi, accused of paying for sex with a minor.

The court canceled hearings for Wednesday and Thursday and said the trial would resume next Monday, Italy's ANSA news agency reported.

Berlusconi's trial has already been delayed three times since he spent more than a week in a hospital recovering from an issue with his eye.

Prosecutors have requested judges not delay the trial any longer, saying Berlusconi was in "contempt of court" for halting the trial multiple times.
