BREST, France, March 16 (UPI) -- A French man received a one-year suspended sentence after admitting he covertly shot video of 1,500 women using supermarket bathrooms.

The man left a cellphone with USB drive between stalls in various supermarket bathrooms to record women as they used the toilet. When one woman finally spotted the phone she called police who traced it back to its owner.

The 56-year-old man -- who was identified only as being from Brest, France -- is awaiting trial on a charge of burning a shopper with acid in the hope she would have to change clothes in the store bathroom, TheLocal.fr said Friday.
