ANKARA, Turkey, March 12 (UPI) -- Five suspects have been arrested for their alleged involvement in an explosion last month near Turkey's southern border that killed 14 people, police said.

Today's Zaman said two of the detainees allegedly staged the attack, while the other three aided and abetted them. Four of the suspects are Syrian and one is Turkish, the Turkish newspaper said.

The suspects allegedly have said individuals connected to Syria's intelligence agency paid them $35,000 for their work and said commands came from Ammid Havvas, the commander of the Syrian army.

The five suspects were referred to an Adana court, Today's Zaman reported Tuesday, and police were still searching for one more suspect.

The explosion last month in Hatay province killed 14 people, including three Turkish citizens, and injured 28.
