MOSCOW, March 10 (UPI) -- An avalanche killed two young boys who were sledding in Russia's Ural Mountains, emergency officials said Sunday.

The tragedy occurred Saturday in the republic of Bashkortostan where the youths, ages 10 and 12, failed to return home.

"The children were found under the avalanche with no traces of life," the regional Emergencies Center said in a statement.

The deaths came just days after an avalanche in Russia's Eastern Siberia killed six teenagers near a remote village in the Tyva republic, Russia's RIA Novosti news service said.
