JERUSALEM, March 8 (UPI) -- Police stormed the Temple Mount compound in Jerusalem Friday after Arabs threw stones and firebombs in their direction, officials said.

Officials said police threw stun grenades to disperse the crowd, Ynetnews.com reported.

Nine officers, a journalist and an unknown number of demonstrators were injured before calm was restored, police said.

All the injuries were reported to be minor.

On the West Bank, clashes between Jewish settlers from the Adei Ad outpost and Palestinians from Mrair erupted over charges that the Palestinians stole farm animals during the night.

Mrair council head Faraj Nasser countered that some settlers attacked a shepherd from the village and stole his herd, which the villagers were trying to retrieve.

"During the clashes the settlers slaughtered five cattle and injured five others," Nasser said. "The army and Civil Administration forces arrived and asked the Palestinians to return to their homes. Six Palestinians were injured."

Also Friday, Palestinians from the town of As Sawiya alleged settlers destroyed 75 olive tree saplings and damaged 21 trees, Ynetnews.com said.
