Georgia to integrate into EU, NATO

TBILISI, Georgia, March 8 (UPI) -- The Georgian Parliament approved a resolution continuing its integration into the European Union and NATO, officials said.

As part of the 19-point resolution Thursday, Georgia will have no diplomatic relations with states recognizing breakaway Abkhazia and South Ossetia, RIA Novosti reported Friday.

Georgia initially broke off ties with Russia following a brief war over Abkhazia and South Ossetia in 2008, though the resolution indicates Georgia will attempt to resolve the conflict.

"Georgia will conduct dialogue with Russia both with the use of international mechanisms in the format of Geneva talks and in bilateral format to settle the conflict and develop good-neighborly relations," the document says.

Ninety-six deputies of the 150-member Parliament approved the resolution.
