Vehicle carrying inmates crashes

SIVAS, Turkey, March 5 (UPI) -- A vehicle carrying inmates crashed in central Turkey early Tuesday, injuring 28 people, including 11 soldiers, police said.

The vehicle was its way to a town near Istanbul when it rolled over on a slippery road in Sivas, Today's Zaman reported.

The driver of the vehicle was hospitalized but the rest of the injured were treated and released, said Hurriyet Daily News.

There was no information about whether any of the prisoners escaped.

An investigation of the incident is under way.
