Man accused of attacking elderly women

ISTANBUL, Turkey, March 4 (UPI) -- Police in Istanbul, Turkey, said they arrested a man Monday who allegedly attacked four elderly women, killing two of them.

The man, identified as Murat Nazaryan, of Armenian origin, was accused of attacking the women, all Armenians, in Istanbul's Samatya neighborhood in recent months, Today's Zaman reported.

Maritsa Kucuk, 85, was killed Dec. 28 in her house, where she lived alone.

Sultan Aykar, 89, was stabbed to death as she entered her home. The date of the attack was not reported.

On Nov. 1, a woman identified as Gonul A. was beaten by an intruder who stole her valuables. Her age was not given.

On Nov. 28, Tuivat A., 87, lost an eye in a beating.
