Swedish police take Palme killing tips

STOCKHOLM, Sweden, March 2 (UPI) -- Police in Sweden said they got more than 100 tips on a call line opened to help solve the 1986 assassination of Prime Minister Olof Palme.

Palme was gunned down on a street in central Stockholm on Feb . 28, 1986, while walking home from a late movie with his wife. No one has ever been charged with the slaying.

Police said they opened the tip line for seven hours Thursday to coincide with the anniversary of Palme's death, TT/TheLocal.se said Saturday.

"We are now going to go through all the tips and see what can be new or not previously investigated information," said Dag Anderson at the Palme Group.

Stefan Lofven, head of Palme's Social Democrat party, honored Palme's memory by placing a wreath at Palme's grave.
