Wire damage leads to train delays

MILTON KEYNES, England, March 1 (UPI) -- Officials said overhead wires on train lines near Milton Keynes in Britain were damaged Friday, and trains are now delayed as a result.

Virgin Trains services in England and Scotland would be delayed as much as 30 minutes, BBC reported, and London Midland said some of the delays could reach 2 hours.

Trains were disrupted by the damage from London to Midlands, and the direct train from Rugby to Milton Keynes.

The wires were damaged when a train pantograph became entangled with overhead lines at the junction.

Officials said engineers hoped to restore all the lines by the end of the day Saturday.

This is the third week the trains have suffered a major disruption because of problems with overhead lines, BBC reported.
