CITY OF SWAN, Australia, Feb. 28 (UPI) -- Officials said they have issued an emergency warning for those living near a bush fire raging in the Shady Hills in Australia.

Officials told residents near the hills, whether to evacuate or defend their homes from the flames, the Australian Broadcasting Corp. said.

The wild fire was burning near the City of Swan and Bullsbrook, suburbs of one of the country's largest cities, Perth.

About 200 firefighters were battling the fire, the Australian broadcaster said, and they had saved several homes.

Department of Fire and Emergency Services spokesman Allen Gale said he is not aware of any homes lost so far.

An evacuation center was set up for residents, the ABC said.
