2 arrested in London acid attack

LONDON, Feb. 25 (UPI) -- Police have arrested two people in London for allegedly throwing acid on a Victoria's Secret store assistant, leaving her with severe burns on her face.

A 21-year-old woman and a 28-year-old man were arrested during the weekend on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm to Naomi Oni, The Independent reported. Both suspects have since posted bail.

No other information was given on the suspects.

Oni, 21, told people she was attacked Dec. 30 by a woman wearing a niqab as she walked to her home from a bus stop.

The attack left Oni with severe burns to her head and body, and partial blindness. She spent nearly a month in a hospital.

Police have also been investigating whether Oni carried out the attack herself, The Daily Telegraph reported.

In response to those allegations, Oni said she was "really upset."

"There's no way I would have done this to myself. I want the person who did this to be caught," she said.
