REVELSTOKE, British Columbia, Feb. 23 (UPI) -- A skier was killed Friday near Revelstoke, British Columbia, when an avalanche buried him and two fellow skiers, police said.

The avalanche in the Greely Lake area buried three skiers out of a group of five, CBC News reported.

Royal Canadian Mounted Police Cpl. Dan Moskaluk said the remaining skiers were able to rescue two of the three people who were buried, but the third had died by the time they reached him.

Revelstoke Search and Rescue expects to recover the man's body Saturday.

The Canadian Avalanche Center earlier Friday had upgraded the avalanche risk to "high" for most of British Columbia.
