Teen stabbed to death for 10 cents

BOGOTA, Feb. 19 (UPI) -- A 13-year-old Colombian boy was stabbed eight times after telling a pair of robbers that he didn't have 10 cents to give them, police in Bogota said.

Nicholas Acosta Pina died after doctors at a local hospital were unable to save him due to the severity of his wounds, Colombia Reports said.

Police arrested a 16-year-old boy who reportedly confessed to the stabbing.

The teen said he was under the influence of marijuana at the time.

He has been sent to a correctional center until a formal ruling can be made in the case, a judge said.

The judge noted the suspect has a criminal record that includes charges of assault and illegal drug possession.
