JIZAN, Saudi Arabia, Feb. 14 (UPI) -- Health authorities in Saudi Arabia said a 12-year-old girl received HIV-infected blood during a hospital transfusion.

An employee made an error at Jizan General Hospital, leading to the mistake and the girl is now receiving special treatment, health officials said.

Gulf News said the health authorities have apologized to the girl and her family and the health ministry is investigating the incident.
