16-18 dead in Afghanistan bus crash

GHAZNI CITY, Afghanistan, Feb. 14 (UPI) -- At least 16 people died when a bus in eastern Ghazni province of Afghanistan struck a truck Thursday, authorities said.

Provincial security chief Gen. Mohammad Hussain said the deadly accident occurred on Ghazni-Kandahar highway in Qarabagh district. He said 16 people died and nine of the injured were taken to the hospital where some are in critical condition.

Ghazni traffic department chief Abdullah Ahmadi put the death toll at 18, and said 23 people were injured, Khaama Press reported.
