AVIEMORE, Scotland, Feb. 11 (UPI) -- One person was found dead and five others were rescued in the Scottish Highlands after members of a college hiking club were reported missing, police said.
Northern Constabulary confirmed Monday the five survivors were located unhurt near Carn Tarsuinn in the rocky Cairngorms mountain range of Scotland, The Scotsman reported.
They were rescued by a Royal Air Force helicopter Monday afternoon and taken by ambulance to a hospital near Aviemore, Scotland, the British Broadcasting Corp. said.
Shortly afterward, the body of a male was found in the Jacob's Ladder part of the range, the newspaper said. No formal identification or cause of death was announced, the newspaper said.
The six were members of a Leeds University hiking club, the BBC said, adding more than 100 rescuers were involved in the search.
