BOGOTA, Feb. 11 (UPI) -- Rebels with Colombia's FARC guerrilla group have destroyed several vehicles belonging to state-owned oil company Ecopetrol, officials say.

The attack was the sixth in a series of incidents by the group since the beginning of the year, Colombia Reports said Monday.

A tractor, cargo truck and a low-bed transport vehicle were sabotaged Sunday at an Ecopetrol construction site in Teorama, in the Catatumbo region of the Norte de Santander department.

Edgar Diaz, the department's governor, said the attack was designed to create a "climate of unease."

The area around Teorama, near the Venezuelan border, is considered a stronghold for FARC rebels.

Since the first of February, FARC rebels have attacked Colombian forces 30 times, killing 10 soldiers or policemen and wounding 35.

FARC rebels captured three Colombian soldiers in late January, aggravating peace talks between FARC and government negotiators.
