MOSCOW, Feb. 9 (UPI) -- A South Korean mayor says President Vladimir Putin assured him Russia is trying to convince North Korea not to carry out any more nuclear tests.
Incheon Mayor Song Young-gil met with Putin in Moscow Friday, Yonhap News Agency reported. The two men said North Korea's nuclear program was included in their discussion at the Kremlin.
Russia and China joined other members of the U.N. Security Council in a resolution condemning North Korea's successful rocket launch in December. Observers say North Korea has been distancing itself from the two countries, normally the closest thing it has to allies, since the vote.
