A 15-year-old boy and 17-year-old boy were arrested Tuesday night, several hours after the lockdown ended at Hormisdas-Gamelin High School in Gatineau, Quebec, QMI Agency reported.
The arrests came after police learned one suspect, possibly armed with a handgun, was headed to the school to confront another teen about the girl they both have feelings for.
"It's about a love triangle. There was another person involved," Constable Pierre Lanthier said. "There was some serious threats. We don't want to take any chances."
Police said none of the teens involved are students at the school, QMI Agency said. Neither suspect was at the school when officers arrived, no gun was found and it wasn't clear why the school was involved.
The two boys were held in custody overnight and had appearances scheduled in youth court, QMI said.
Gatineau police said the 15-year-old boy had called the to say he was being threatened, possibly with a gun, by another youth, the Canadian Broadcasting Corp. reported.
The school was locked down from 1-3 p.m., the CBC said.
