Brazil plane crash kills industrial heir

SAO PAULO, Feb. 4 (UPI) -- An industrial heir was one of five people killed in a plane crash near Sao Paulo, company officials confirmed.

Jose Eduardo Ermirio de Moraes, grandson of the founder of Votorantim Group, a multinational conglomerate and one of the largest companies in Latin America, was killed Sunday along with his fiancee, her mother, the pilot and co-pilot. Their King Air C-90 crashed in a soybean field south of Sao Paulo. No reason was given for the crash but the pilot tried dumping fuel to avoid an explosion on impact, investigators told O Globo.

The investigation into what caused the crash remains active, authorities said.
