SANTA MARIA, Brazil, Feb. 3 (UPI) -- Hundreds of people dressed in white held a ceremony in front of the nightclub Kiss in Santa Maria, Brazil, where 237 people died in a fire.

Attendees lit candles and placed flowers and posters to pay tribute to the victims of the fire, which occurred Jan. 27, O Globo reported.

A mass at the Basilica of Medatrix was also held in honor of the dead.

O Globo said the death toll rose to 237 Saturday night, while 113 other victims remained hospitalized.

The U.S. government donated 140 kits of the drug hydroxocobalamin for the treatment of cyanide poisoning, as the gas was released when the soundproofing foam in the nightclub burned, O Globo reported.
