ROME, Feb. 3 (UPI) -- Six people were injured Sunday when a passenger plane made a crash landing at an Italian airport, authorities said.
Fifty people were aboard the aircraft, which crashed while landing in high winds at the airport near Rome at the end of a flight from Pisa.
Reports said the aircraft belonged to Romanian carrier Carpatair, but flew under Alitalia,
Government investigators were on the scene to make an official determination of the cause. Accuweather.com said winds at the airport were gusting up to 50 miles per hour at the time of the crash.
The airport was closed temporarily while a triage area treated the injured. One girl suffered a spinal injury and taken to a nearby hospital.
